Our Ceremonies

An increasing number of people are becoming aware that they are free to have whatever content they wish for their Ceremony. Many know that they can have a Religious Minister or a Humanist Celebrant, but often not the remaining option - an Independent Celebrant.
Like Humanists, we conduct non-religious Ceremonies but more often, we include some religious practice, ie a hymn and/or prayer. This type of Ceremony reflects a rapidly increasing number of people whom wish to have a beautiful, unique and dignified Ceremony but do not support a wholly religious or wholly non-religious Ceremony.

Our Ceremonies encompass the needs of the family or couple involved by using various methods, including; Poetry, Special Music, Hymns, Prayers, Personalised Eulogy, Hand-Picked Vows, The Lighting of Candles or Placing of Flowers, other speakers, readings or anything else appropriate to them.

The Celebrant can conduct the whole Ceremony but also warmly encourages others to take part if they so wish.

Our Celebrants

Between our members, we have conducted all of life's Ceremonies, including:- Funerals, Weddings, Baby Namings, Commitment & Partnerships, to name but a few.  We have worked with families whom hold differing beliefs such as; Humanist, Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, for a number of reasons.

Either the family involved have split beliefs/views or their Religious Minister was not available at that time.  But mostly, they have chosen this type of Ceremony because they have heard about this wonderful, new way of Celebrating their occasion.

The Role of the AOIC

The AOIC was introduced to provide a network of Accredited Independent Celebrants that provide Civil or Life Ceremonies to the public.  These Celebrants, otherwise known as Officiants, are highly experienced professionals who prepare their clients Ceremony with the uptmost care and compassion.

Our member Celebrants carry out their work under their own right and the AOIC encourages this.  However, they follow a Code of Practice which must be adhered to at all times.
